As part of the annual Glasgow Doors Open festival, which celebrates the built heritage across the city, the Scottish Ballet opened its doors and welcomed the general public to visit their main headquaters situated within the Tramway.
Of all the buildings that open their doors the Scottish Ballet was by far the one I was most excited about. I have always being fascinated by ballerinas and to have a behind the scenes peek was very exciting. Made more so by the fact that I have always considered the process of creating a production very secretive and rehearsals amongst the company quite intimate – not to be shared with the outside world.
Whilst I wasn’t lucky enough to see rehearsals by the main company, we did get to see the Junior Associates who were very good. Along with this we also got taken to the costume department, which was amazing. As expected, packed to the rafters with tulle, sparkles and all a little bit mad – here are a few pics from the tour.
